Finding New Friends
If you've just opened your Facebook account you won't have any friends yet. In order to make yourself look a little more popular you should go and find some old friends from School, university, college, any hobbies you’ve ever done, any places you’ve worked at and send a friend request. You should also drop them a quick message so they know who you are.
When you’ve made friends with 10-20 old friends, go through their friend lists to see if you recognize any of their friends. Chances are, you will know lots more people you can become friends with on Facebook.
Once you’ve found around 50 real friends (People you personally know) you need to start adding network marketing related people to your friends.
1. Create a Network Marketing friend list so you are able to seperate your personal friends from your business related friends.
2. Go to the groups section of Facebook and start making friends with other network marketers. You can see a video I've recorded here which will show you how I do this.
3. Search for people in authority in Network Marketing like Mike Dillard, Michael Dloughy, Daegan Smith, Ann Sieg, Mike Klingler etc, make friends with them and then start to make friends with their friends.
The more friends you can have who relate to network marketing and MLM, the more you are able to expose your brand to other people.
Again, make sure you follow the friending strategy myself and my team use to make friends with other network marketers. By following this approach, you can be prospecting at the same time as making friends
To get to groups, you can go to the search function at the top of every page and type in MLM, Network Marketing or the name of a specific company or group you are looking for.
Send out 20-30 friend requests each day. Don’t send any more than about 30 as you may get a warning from Facebook. By requesting 20ish friends per day, you will be building your friend list naturally.
Different people use different strategies… some people I know request 150 friends each day without any difficulties. I'd prefer to err on the side of caution and only make friends with 20-30 people consistently each day rather than risk having a warning from Facebook.
I am fairly active on 3-4 different social networking sites so I switch between sites and usually friend between 10 and 25 people per day on each site which increases my friend list over a period of time. You aren’t in any rush, so do it naturally and without using bots and automated software! (Using automated software or bots will get your account closed, so DONT use them!).
You can only build meaningful relationships with a few people each day. Take your time… it’s not a race to see how many friends you can make! Build meaningful relationships with people. The biggest mistake you can make, which I see people making all the time is to just add friends to your profile and not actually interact with them. Although they are your ‘friends’ on your profile, it doesn’t mean they are you friends in real life…. There is a difference ☺
The more you know someone, the more they trust you and vice versa. Yes you are trying to build up your network marketing business, but make sure you don’t have a hidden agenda. Make friends (real friends) with people because you want to get to know more about them not because you want to prospect them for your business.
The more real friends you have, the more you will learn and grow. Find out what these people are doing to build their business, ask questions, learn as much as you can in the early days.
Once you know this information for yourself, you can teach it to other people. This is when you start to become a leader.
Facebook is a great place to network but I feel that it can also be a sad place because very few people actually interact with each other. I have numerous old school friends I’ve found again through Facebook whom I’ve talked with once since I added them.
The less friends you have on Facebook the better in my opinion. BUT you have to really get to know this small group of friends.
I've come up with a few great strategies to really touch people on Facebook and the other social networks I use. This dramatically increases the response rates I've been having.
They are slightly more advanced strategies, but they are actually very easy to implement. Click the links below to find out more.
1. Tagging people who's birthday it is in a pre-recorded video I've made.
2. Integrating a video welcome message in my friend requesting strategy.
